Rachel Larson Receives the 2010 William Goldberg Scholarship

Every year The GIA awards the William Goldberg scholarship to one very deserving person who is looking to pursue a career in the diamond industry. We have been sponsoring this award since 2003, after the death of my father. He was a great proponent of education and of the great institution of the GIA, so it was befitting that we named this scholarship for him.

This year, the winner of the William Goldberg Scholarship is Rachel Larson. Not only is she a wonderful person, she is a sales associate at one of our long time and favorite clients, Borsheims, in Omaha, Nebraska.

Rachel graduated from UNO with a degree in business (entrepreneurship was her specialty) Both Rachels parents were involved in the business world, and so she felt sales and business were in her genes. Before selling jewelry, Rachel sold cosmetics, and even home audio equipment. She was ready for an upgrade, and when Borsheims offered her the opportunity to get into the jewelry sector, she was very excited, but had no idea what was in store.

Rachel loves "romancing the stone" while working with clients, and is excited to work on earning her Graduate Gemologist degree with the GIA so she can educate her clients even more about the pieces they are buying.

We are so proud of Rachel, and wish her the best of luck!!!
